CRADLE’s Juuso Nieminen and David Boud are guest editing a special issue on moving beyond grades in Higher Education Research & Development (HERD). The issue invites innovative approaches to representing what students have learned and seeks conceptual and empirical contributions on topics such as alternative representations of achievement, student voice, power and ethics, inclusion and equity, and representation of achievement in an age of Artificial Intelligence. The special issue aims to be generative and will consider conceptual critiques and empirical investigations only if they yield novel insights. The deadline for full papers is 1 March 2027.
